I am planning on taking my mare to a working hunter show this weekend, it will only be oue 2nd time out in a competition. We were going to do the nursery novice (60cm) and the prelim (65cm).
However, I have just found out that the judge will ride in all the classes (didn't say this in the schedule).

My mare is nervous girl, and although she is a good one, she is wary. I am only really starting to click with her now after getting her in April. I'm worried that having a different rider on her away at something might be too much for her, but on the other hand it may be really good for her.

What would you folks do? Would you go or would you hold off until next year.

Thanks :) photo of said mare attached just for cuteness :)

Ride judges are very good at getting the best out of strange horses, most I have seen are really lovely quiet riders. My friend has a TB who, frankly, is a complete spakko! Very nervy and very explosive. I was really impressed when I saw her competing, the judge really got a lovely tune out of him. I'd give it a try, perhaps mention as they come over that she can be nervous and let them decide. If it doesn't go great it is unlikely 1 thing is going to have a long term effect on your relationship with her.
